Medical Visualization - Within and Beyond The Hospital Walls
This talk will present some recent results from the Center of Medical Image Science (CMIV) and the Norrk?ping Visualization Center - C, both at Link?ping University in Sweden. Examples will be taken from clinical use of visualization as well as from the latest technical research. Touching a beating heart, conducting virtual autopsies, functional imaging of brain activity, scanning animals etc. are topics that will be covered. The Virtual Autopsy Table will also be presented in the talk.

The talk will also show how medical visualization can be used in knowledge dissemination in public spaces. By combining new medical visualization techniques with interactive multi-touch table technology and intuitive user interfaces visitors to science centers and museums can interactively explore the normally invisible and learn about the inside workings of the human body, exotic animals, natural history subjects or even mummies, such as the recent installation at the British Museum.
