From Visualization Research to Commercial Visualization Software
In this talk I will summarize and compare my experiences over the last
20 years of work in the visualization field. I will start with basic
research, especially in the field of interactive visual analysis of
simulation data. This work has been transferred to the field of applied
research and eventually been commercialized. I will report from
experiences from all stages of this process and compare and point out
differences in the respective stages. Special emphasis will also be on
providing insight on how innovation and research of visualization
technologies in the scope of working for a larger commercial software
company differs from the academic world.
